Here we are again, witnessing another card get relisted with a hostage-holding asking price. This time, it’s the 2006 Bowman Chrome Superfractor Frank Thomas. This is a card I’d love to have, but I’m not participating in this game. No thanks.
The reseller was smart to wait until the record for the previous sale dropped off. I don’t expect a $12,000 valuation for this card to exist any time soon if ever. It’s a pipe dream. Realistically, $7500 OBO would get it done and with a healthy profit even after fees. Instead, this reseller throws this thing up with a whopping 121% markup. Yea, and anti-submarine protests occur on highways. I can play that game too.
I watched the original listing for a while and actually considered bidding. This was long before the price exploded into the four figures. The bragging rights to say I bid on this card knowing I wasn’t going to win it was enough for me to at least throw some oil on the wheel. Ultimately, however, I passed on the endeavor. Sometimes, I’m plenty happy just standing by and watching everyone else duke it out. Chronicling the existence of the Frank Thomas 2006 Bowman Chrome Superfractor is enough for me. When I saw the relist, I was like, okay, fine; now I have to blog about it so here we are.
