2024 Metal Universe Champions Jambalaya is a multi-sport set. The set contains 22 cards with 20 being pack-issued and 2 being issued through e-Pack redemption. The two cards issued via redemption were Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan. To get them, collectors had to collect Metal Edge Achievement cards #ME-7 and #ME-8 and redeem them.1 This opportunity was only available to the first 35 collectors to do this, which means the print run on these two cards is just 35 copies each.
The set commemorates the design of the inaugural Jambalaya set issued in 1997. When I see these cards, even though they’re modern takes on a classic set, I think it’s only a matter of time before they too carry popularity. While I don’t expect the same valuation as the set from 1997, I still think these will grow in value beyond that featured during release date. We saw this trend at least to some degree with the Fleer Retro sets from the early 2010s. While they didn’t draw the same attention as the sets they commemorated, they still became quite popular. This is where I am with this set and others like it. While I don’t buy these, I appreciate seeing them at shows, which is an occurrence that is, admittedly, exceedingly rare.
