1997 Score Baseball left out a lot of information and much of the product variations are missing from key price guides. The 1997 Score Stand & Deliver insert set is one of the greater mysteries of that year. Here we have the three versions of this card:
- Silver with Gold Letters: This is the base version. It’s the most common and the only one that was pack inserted among the three.
This is a 24-card set with 20 cards featuring 4 players from each of the following teams thought most likely to win the World Series: Braves, Dodgers, Indians, Mariners, and Yankees. The remaining 4 cards are Wild Cards (cards 21-24). Collectors who compiled either all four of the cards from the World Series winning team, or all four Wild Cards could redeem them to Pinnacle for a complete Gold parallel set.
Since the Miami (Florida at the time) Marlins won the World Series that year and weren’t included in this set, collectors could only complete a redemption by compiling the four Wild Cards. Collectors who compiled all four Wild Cards could send them to Pinnacle to redeem a set of silver-letter Gold parallels. It’s believed that the first 25 people to redeem the four Wild Cards got a set of the elusive red-letter Gold parallels. Each redeemed set came in a frame.
- Gold with Silver Letters: It’s believed that the print run is 225. Due to the way these were released, they are difficult but not impossible to find.
- Gold with Red Letters: It’s believer that the print run is 25. Due to the way these were released, they are nearly impossible to find.

Stand & Deliver is another in a long line of great offerings by Pinnacle Brands. I’m not sure if you saw it, but a complete framed set recently sold on eBay (numbered 005/250). Masterful.
I love this set.
I have the 1997 score stand and deliver gold with red letters Alex Rodriguez PSA 10. What do you think it’s worth.
That’s a nice one. To answer your question, the short answer is it’s worth whatever you paid for it. If you’d like to do a little more research on the current market value of your card, I recommend reviewing eBay Completed Sold listings. This always helps me gauge actual current market value. I hope this helps. Thanks for the comment.
Not sure if this is useful information 7 years on – however…
I have a gold Frank Thomas with silver letters that I pulled from a pack of ’97 Score as a kid, so the gold parallels weren’t exclusive to the framed sets. Since no one on the internet seems to be aware of this tidbit after 26 years, I’m assuming I got EXTREMELY lucky.
Hi Corey,
Thanks for the comment. That’s interesting because the Gold parallels were, supposedly, only issued as redemptions. The only explanation I can think of for the reason for your pulling one is that more copies were made than are known to exist and said additions were inserted into packs. This is only speculation, however, not confirmation since there’s no way to back any of this up with any degree of certainty.
