2010 was a magical time to be a collector, and a big part of that was because of Washington Nationals 1st-round draft pick, Stephen Strasburg. His appearance in 2010 changed the hobby in ways that are still being felt today. While his career was cut short by injury, he stands as one of the most important figures in all of sports cards. His 2010 rookie cards attracted a wide scope of new collectors and had existing ones in a panic to find his cards in packs. Stephen Strasburg superfractors have always held a near transcendental place in the hobby. It’s because of Stephen Strasburg that superfractors sell as well as they do today. It all started in 2010.

The Stephen Strasburg 2010 Topps Chrome superfractor auto surfaced and while I thought I had the resources to win the auction, by a few grand in, I transitioned from active bidder to market observer. If I can’t own it, I can at least blog about it, so here we are. This is such an incredible card and one that sells well in any of its many parallels. At just over $11k before buyer’s premium, this is still a great buy. The significance of this card simply cannot be understated. It’s important both in player and historical significance.
