1991 Score Hot Rookies is a 10-card set and Frank Thomas, the only HOFer in the set, is featured among a variety of other notable names from the early 1990s. The set design is bright and vibrant and most certainly a staple of its time. The hot orange to warm yellow gradient makes this one stand out. 1991 Score is already a colorful set and this insert set, that was only found in blister packs, adds a nice touch of flair to the master set. I’ve purchased several raw copies of the Frank Thomas over the years and have always noticed the condition sensitivity of the corners. A PSA 10 is a relatively low population card and as you can see from the sales data above, it performed extremely well. I’ve been looking at graded examples of this card over the past few years and this is the first 10 I’ve seen hit market. I watched it with no intention of bidding and while I expected it to do well, I had no idea it would go this high. The condition sensitivity of this set pushes high grade examples into unicorn territory.
