Likely most of you know who these fellas are but for those who don’t let’s dig into a little background on each of these guys.
Babe Ruth: The Sultan of Swat, The King of Crash, The Great Bambino are among a variety of whimsical nicknames given to this Giant of the Game. Ruth did so well in his career but did so almost effortlessly. He found baseball at a young age within the walls of Saint Mary’s Industrial School for Boys, which was his home for most of his youth. Ruth began his career as a successful pitcher for the Boston Red Sox but it wasn’t until he began hitting exclusively for the New York Yankees when his legendary status would be firmly cemented into history. Over the course of his 22-year professional career, Ruth amassed the following: .342 Career AVG, 714 HRs, 2x All-Star, and one MVP (1923).1 He was among the players to get inducted in the Baseball Hall of Fame inaugural class of 1936. Numerous books and movies have been made about his life and times.

Ty Cobb: Nicknamed, The Georgia Peach, Ty Cobb was one heck of an amazing baseball player. He struggled socially and didn’t have many friends. Mickey Cochrane was his one true friend and one of the only fellas that made it to Cobb’s funeral. Cobb is the All-Time Career AVG leader at an unheard of .366. He’s also second All-Time for Career Hits at an untouchable 4189. Cobb holds one MVP (1911), the same year he posted a .420 batting average.3 He was among the players to get inducted in the Baseball Hall of Fame inaugural class of 1936.
