Former Philadelphia Phillies Catcher, Darren Daulton passed away on Sunday after a four-year battle with brain cancer. He was just 55 years old.[1]Darren Daulton, legendary Phillies catcher, dies at 55. www.usatoday.com[2]Former Phillies Catcher Darren Daulton Dies at 55. www.si.com
Daulton was a 3x All Star, and 1x Silver Slugger with an outstanding ability to handle his position behind the plate. He helped the Florida Marlins win the 1997 World Series.[3]Darren Daulton. www.baseball-reference.com
He was one of the rookie cards I always looked for when opening packs of 1986 Topps Baseball. Even to this day, I consider him one of the key cards to have in the set. I always looked for his cards in bargain bins and can remember hoping to pull an elusive Phillies Finest card from 1994 Ultra Baseball.
Daulton is a member of the Phillies Wall of Fame and is remembered as a fan favorite and a franchise best.
