1994 Triple Play Nicknames is an 8-card set inserted into packs at a rate of 1:36 standard packs and 1:12 jumbo packs. 1994 was the first year out of the junk wax era and it was when things really started to get interesting. Seemingly all sets produced were high gloss and the use of metallic foil was common. Insertion ratios got higher and inserts always contained high quality talent. The high number of sets made that year required companies to compete with each other for customers and in doing so, they produced some really excellent sets. By 1994, the Triple Play arm of Donruss was an established release and one that still targeted the younger market. Thing is, many adults liked it too because the cards are very nice. 1994 Triple Play Nicknames is a beautiful set that features high gloss, gold foil printing, a 1-per-box insertion ratio, an beautiful design, a strong player roster, and a very affordable price point. We get all this from such an affordable set.
