1988 Donruss was released during the run of years where Donruss issued a series of dark bordered sets (1985-1989). The 1988 issue has an interesting piped border design somewhat reminisce of the tubing in early Mario Brothers video games. Key RCs include: Roberto Alomar, Jay Buhner, Ken Caminiti, Ron Gant, Tom Glavine, Mark Grace, Gregg Jefferies, and Matt Williams. The small number of errors that were later corrected in 1988 Donruss are listed below.
What’s Not Included in this Checklist:
- Uncorrected Errors (UERs): These include minor typos on card backs and/or fronts. Since these cards were never corrected, they’re just the standard cards in the set.
- Blank/Wrong Fronts/Backs: Examples beyond what’s stated are manufacturing scrap and weren’t issued in packs.
- Checklists: There are two unique versions of every checklist in the set with each starting and stopping at different numbers. They appear to have similar values.
- Back Text Variations: Some cards in 1988 Donruss can be found with two unique variations of text arrangements on card backs. While some are rarer than others, the difference in value appears to be minor.

A friend of mine showed me some of his cards and I noticed a1988 Donruss Ron Guidry he had rhe. ERA he had for total years was the same as his best season, all the other seasons were higher how could his this be? Is it considered an ERROR cards? Seems to me it should be

Thanks for the comment. Ron Guidry came up in 1975 and the back of his 1988 Donruss card only depicts the previous five years of data, but the Career stat line averages his entire career. This is why his 3.27 ERA is itemized as his career ERA average. I hope this makes sense.
