1909-11 T206 is an incredibly big set because the cards come in a variety of parallels with backs featuring different cigarette brands. Piedmont, as well as several other cigarette brands, added one baseball card into each cigarette pack, thereby stimulating market demand for the product.
Since kids started collecting the cards, it also drew the attention of that market, which was considered by many to be controversial. Some say this was why Honus Wagner asked the cigarette companies to pull his card early in the print run. If that’s indeed what happened, it would account for why the Honus Wagner cards are so rare.
