1998 Metal Universe Precious Metal Gems have become some of the most widely collected cards in the entire hobby. I can remember wanting this card for a few years before I got mine. I think these are the only other examples I’ve seen surface since I got mine back in the late 2010s. It’s wild to see these two sell on consecutive Sundays and bring about the same figure with the second one closing at $34 more. Given the popularity of the set, I suspect this card will continue to grow in value. While you might not think an 8 is a strong grade for this set, it most certainly is. Given the condition sensitivity of the set, it’s more common to see these grade out at 6s and 7s. It doesn’t matter though because these cards are stunning in any grade.
