The reason things have been quiet here is because I’ve been working on another piece of the brand puzzle.
Overview:
As you know, I built this site to share my thoughts on sportscard collecting. I’ve been blogging about the hobby since summer 2010. In January 2011, I created the forum, which was originally a separate page within the database. Due to a series of relentless technical issues, I moved the forum to its own home at radithreads.com in March 2012. Readers and members can move to and from the blog and forum with ease by clicking on the respective tabs at the tops of each site. This is a great opportunity for collectors to meet with, learn from, and interact with each other. I’m a huge fan of this type of arrangement as it builds connections, and the opportunity to make new friends.
Happening:
As you may know, I am a Frank Thomas super collector. At the time of this writing, I have just shy of 3700 unique Frank Thomas cards. The collection continues to grow. Over the past few years, other collectors have inquired about the possibility of viewing my collection online. This is something I have always wanted because it would enable me to enjoy my collection from anywhere in the world. Over the past two months, I have been building what will be just that; an online archival reference of my entire Frank Thomas collection. The site will feature scans and descriptions of every card. This is a work in progress and based on the work so far, I’m giving myself a very liberal ETA of 12-18 months. This could very well change due to common variables. When all is said and done, however, I will unveil the project.
This new initiative is an incredibly ambitious goal but one which I am very excited about. This new site will eventually also feature scans and descriptions of other sportscards as well. One thing at a time. The process of bringing vision to reality requires a lot of time and thought.
