Here are some cards I watched just for fun over the summer. The players depicted are some of my favorites from the associated era. I always like seeing Frank Thomas make the list along side Ken Griffey Jr. and Derek Jeter. The latter two of which dominate most sales for cards released in their playing years. I never get tired of seeing cards issued in these highly popular parallel sets.

It’s worth mentioning that this exact Ken Griffey Jr. 1999 Metal Universe PMG sold the following month on August 10 with 15 bids, and brought $5,900.86. Both sales came from the same reputable seller, which leads me to believe the buyer of the first sale in June backed out leaving the card to be re-listed. This sometimes happens with higher value items. This second sale is a better representation of the actual market value of this particular card.

I’ve published sale figures of the Frank Thomas 1996 Select Certified Mirror Golds before and for card #1, they often fetch between $4000-5000. I’ve also learned the common grade for this card is a 7. This one being a 9, the higher value makes more sense. It’s nice that the price difference between a 7 and a 9 in the current market for this particular card is still very reasonable. In all honesty, however, the difference is negligible.
