1999 UD Ionix HoloGrFX is a 10-card set featuring some of the era’s biggest names in the game with individual cards inserted at an astronomical 1:1500 packs, which makes these some of the rarest cards to come out of the 1990s that aren’t one of ones. A lot of times with stuff this rare, we don’t even get insertion ratios, but we got them with this set and I think it’s because these card aren’t serial numbered. These cards have become hobby favorites for their highly attractive design. The etching combined with the refractor finish makes these some of the most appealing cards of the decade. I didn’t buy any 1999 UD Ionix when it was issued as I was on a brief hiatus, and only found out about these years later. It would be another long stretch of years before I’d get my Frank Thomas, but I’m glad I did because with current market values, it’s difficult to participate. This is often the case with high end, a category in which this set comfortably resides.
