1953 Bowman Color is a 160-card set that features a minimal design with color photos and no print or facsimiles, and remains one of the most collected vintage sets of the postwar era. The release format was in 5-card nickel packs containing gum with boxes containing 24 packs. The set measures 2.5″x3.75″ and was Bowman’s response to the highly collected 1952 Topps set released the previous year. High numbers (#113-160) are considered the rarest in the set with cards #113-128 being especially scarce.
