I can remember when I published the first blog post on this site 15 years ago on July 11, 2010. As a blogger, I’ve come a long way. In the beginning, I didn’t know what the heck I was doing, but I loved it and knew I’d learn as I went. Boy, did I ever learn. From swapping database content, to moving to a mobile-friendly theme, image optimizations, affiliate links, multiple SEO scrubs, and ADA compliance, it’s been a long, long road, but a good one.
I never took a single website development class in school. Everything I’ve done on this site is self-taught strictly from trial and error. It’s just a matter of trying things out and seeing where they go. I’ve gotten proficient enough with what I do here that I occasionally teach seminars on WordPress implementation, design, and marketing.
These days, I teach college courses in marketing and business, and find plenty of opportunities to share what I know about WordPress with students in the classroom. One of the things I tell my students is to be curious and take action; try things out and see where they go. Had I not tinkered with WordPress back in 2010, I’d probably be a pretty uninteresting guy. I’m not implying that WordPress has made me more interesting, but it certainly hasn’t made me less interesting. That aside, the knowledge I’ve obtained by blogging for 15 years has come in serious handy when it comes to building market exposure for content.
I’ve learned some pretty significant strategies that by implementation, my content often outranks some of the biggest participants in the sports card category. I sometimes challenge myself to see if I can outrank a competitor with the creation of a similar article, and I’m often successful in my pursuit.
I teach this stuff, so I can’t give it away for free. However, if you want to learn how I do this, I’m happy to share for a fee. And if not, that’s cool too. I just hope you enjoy the content I produce. Here’s to many more years of publishing excellent content. Thanks for visiting.
