2017 MVP and CY Award Winners

2017 was another great year for baseball. Here are your 2017 MVP and CY Award Winners.

Jose Altuve & Giancarlo Stanton:

The 2017 MLB MVP Awards go to Jose Altuve and Giancarlo Stanton. Stanton had an amazing year. He led the National League in home runs (59) and RBI (132).1 Meanwhile, Jose Altuve led the American League in batting average (.346) and had 204 hits.2 I was mildly hoping for Stanton to surpass the 60-hr mark, which is incredibly rare by today’s standards. And, at just 5-6, it was interesting to see such power come from the small frame that is Altuve. He was fun to watch during the World Series. Congrats to both of these guys.

Max Scherzer & Corey Kluber:

The 2017 MLB Cy Young Awards go to Max Scherzer and Corey Kluber. This is the second year in a row and third time Scherzer has been awarded this prestigious award. He had a dominant year with 268 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.51.3 Strasburg was close with an ERA of 2.52. Between the two of them, the Nationals have an incredibly dominant pitching roster. As for Kluber, this is his second career CY Award win. He led the league in ERA (2.25), shutouts (3), W-L% (.818), and wins (18).4 For a guy who’s only been playing at the professional level for 7 years, he’s really developed into quite the effective pitcher. If both of these guys can stay healthy, hopefully we’ll see more from them. Congrats to both of these fellas.
